Darrow
is proud to announce that Do Young Lim has been named the valedictorian and
Cameron Burkhart has been named the salutatorian of the Class of 2010. These
students, who have earned the School’s top two academic honors, were
recognized at Baccalaureate on Friday, June 4, and Commencement on Saturday,
June 5.
The son of Sung-Hwan Lim and Il-Jae Lim, Do Young,
a native of Seoul, Korea, has consistently
earned High Honors during his time at Darrow. He is one of the most visible
leaders within the community, serving as this year’s student body president, as
well as a resident assistant, library prefect, and Core Leader, Darrow’s
highest leadership ranking. Do Young is an accomplished classical guitarist and
saxophonist, and frequently performs during school concerts and theater
productions. He has also been a key member of the cross-country team for
several seasons. An avid writer, Do Young plans to attend the University of Chicago in the fall, where he will
study the humanities.
Cameron is the son of Ken Burkhart and Priscilla
Barclay of Albany, N.Y. He is the second Darrow success story in his family;
his brother, Mackenzie, graduated in 2007. In addition to his academic achievements,
Cameron has flourished as a musician during his Darrow career. He plays bass
guitar in various school music ensembles, performs in and creates the lighting
design for many Darrow theater productions, and organizes the School’s
student-run Coffeehouse live-performance series. Cameron has taken on a range
of leadership roles at Darrow, including senior class president, Core Leader,
and resident assistant, and prefect for the admission office, student
activities, and the performing arts. In the fall, he will enroll in the State University
of New York—New Paltz, where he plans to major in English.
Excitement surrounds the
learning experience at Darrow—in the classroom, in the laboratory, and
in the studio. The atmosphere in and out of the classroom supports the
pursuit of intellectual curiosity, individual creativity, and the joy
of learning for its own sake. Teachers use real-world topics and a
hands-on approach to capture the imagination and make the subject
matter come alive.
