The Million Dollar
Class
Every year the faculty at Darrow is provided many reasons to
be proud of our students. We certainly take pride their accomplishments, in and
out of the classroom, and we are constantly provided reasons to be proud of
them as “good people”.
The Class of 2009 provided the entire Darrow community
another important reason to be especially proud. Our seniors, numbering just
33, have been awarded as of early March, over $1,000,000 in merit scholarships!
Merit scholarships are awarded, by a variety of colleges, to
a select group of students that have been accepted into their entering class.
Nearly all merit scholarships are awarded, at least in part, on the basis of
academic accomplishment. But, many of the scholarships also recognize
leadership and commitment to community service. Academic achievements, coupled
with a commitment to community life, represent two values imbedded in life at
Darrow. As such, our students earning merit scholarships are especially
meaningful for all of us.
